The first WordCamp in Australia is nearly upon us and it’s being hosted at the University of Technology Sydney. WordCamp Sydney 2018 will be held from the 28th-29th of July and brings together WordPress professionals and enthusiasts to network and learn about the many facets of running a website built on WordPress.

A general entry ticket will only set you back $55 for the weekend but if you’re feeling extra nice you can become a mini sponsor of the event for $150 which will get you a link to your website on the attendees page. For some a highly relevant link to your website is worth that little bit extra plus the warm and fuzzies for supporting the free platform that supports many careers.

The speakers list has now shaped up. Whilst there are some mini ‘WordPress’ celebrities speaking such as Kate Toon and Dee Teal, the most important element is the broadness of topics covered from agencies and companies all over Australia. Topics you might not ordinarily devote any time to, but afterwards will wonder why you haven’t done.

Also very important if the code of conduct. WordPress sets some pretty strong guidelines on having an open and accepting community so it is important to read the code of conduct. The general idea is, leave your ego at the door and don’t be a dick.

Looking forward to seeing you all there, but if not WordCamp Brisbane looks to be positioning for their event announcement after posting for the first time in a year. Come on Melbourne, when is it your turn?
